Paper's relating to Harcourt's duty as commandant of Vellore, India, during the months subsequent to the mutiny of July 10, 1806. Subjects include the causes of the mutiny, the actions of the officers who supressed it, the reliability and recruitment of native forces, and the local leaders who may have been involved. Correspondents include Sir John Francis Cradock (later John Francis Caradoc, Baron Howden), commander-in-chief of the Madras Army, and John Munro, quartermaster general. Other papers relate to Harcourt's military operations in Cuttack, India, during the Mahratta War, 1803-1805.
